There are a couple of ways to look at it. “It” being symbolic of a distraction. A distraction that I consider a very important part of a person’s life. Everybody should have a distraction that inspires them, gets them fired up, and even makes them do bad things. It adds color.
I’m a sports fan, obviously. My “proud to be an alum of” of school looked like a shitty high-school basketball team last night. They were a disgrace. Proves that no bit of training can prepare you for that kind of pressure. A trainer by the name of Tom Izzo couldn’t even do it. Everyone has a bad day now and then but that was crap. Moving on.
I have some time until baseball season gets here and just enough time to knock out the second draft of the screenplay I just wrote. Gratefully, I was waiting for some feedback from a couple readers/editors I trust. Sadly, I mean happily I agree with the amount of work ahead. I’m excited about it. Got tons more notecards smothering my desk and the brain is spinning. So, tomorrow I begin.
I’m proud of the work so far. I actually got a copy of the “proof of registry” from the WGA today. Cool stuff. It’s like getting your SAG card or something. Silly now but at the time it was so freakin’ cool. By choice, the past five years I have only had the grateful opportunity to make other people’s stuff. Last year I got to work on a few great little projects that hope to see some big potential this year. Two are about to screen over the next couple of weeks, one in the rough stages still and the other ready for the Network pitch. It’s all kind of coming full-circle. It’s satisfying at times but exhausting at others, but when you get to see it or read it, it makes it all worth it, we hope.
They are all just part of building a better piece of machinery anyways. A well-oiled one.
I said at the beginning of this year that this would be the year. The year I take the step to the next level. The “big-boy” level. It’s time. My baseball team is symbolic of it. My age is relevant. Life at home is too. We are gonna ride it together.
Damn!, MSU sucked last night! Had to say that again…
