I come back from celebrating a very great friend’s future wedding with a bunch of other great friends and the next thing you know, I start my next gig. Grateful to be producing another feature film. More details to follow but at least it has begun. Shooting in June. Woohoo!! Can’t wait to announce this amazing cast. I owe it to my partner. She knows who she is. From the first draft script, through all stages of production, to the final dub, success or failure rests largely in the hands of the producer. Experience in this field does not come overnight. Rather it is born out of long years of creative and technical know-how, and above all a love for the job and all that goes with it, together with the ability to choose the right talent with which to surround himself. ” — Julian Wintle I’m out! There are times in class when I feel like I am having a baby. So ladies, I know what in feels like. Just like thigh work. This post is way overdue. WAY! Truth is, I’ve been too scared to show this photo of me in spandex. I like to use term, “Under Armor”, anyways. I grew up on a skateboard and a snowboard. I have beat myself up for many years. My back is jacked and posture sort of sucks. I am a regular for the chiropractor. I used to be. My beautiful fiancé started to teach this Bar Method/Pilates type of exercise like a year ago. I was on the ski lift with one of her co-instructors over New Years and was talked to and convinced that it might fix my brokenness. The convincing was not forced. I want to be fixed. I wanted to. Just like any normal dude, I never wanna listen to my fiancé who had been telling me about it for months. Fast forward three months. I’ve been doing this stuff at least twice a week since I got back from snowboarding. It has done wonders. For my body, my health, and most of all …

It’s exciting. We are seriously coming down the home stretch. I knew we had some pick ups to do but it turned out to be quite a bit more than I expected. I think realistically we have about three more well-planned days. As long as “Flava Flav” gets off his plane on time today. Cannot wait to share this film with the world. It has blown away my expectations. Who doesn’t want to see a good “WEED” movie? More news to come but here’s a nice shot or our lead girl ripping some waves in Venice Beach. Your “weed movie” producer, Lije
I was reading responses to “Sundance’s Question: What did you sacrifice to make your film?” this morning and I came across this answer from a first-time filmmaker. It’s good timing considering I’ve been writing my first feature for the last year. Granted, it’s not my first film to be made, but it is my first one that was all my idea and one that I find myself to be the only one fighting for, most of the time. I found the answer below to be quite inspiring. It’s from the director of Escape From Tomorrow, Randy Moore. “Being a first time filmmaker is a strange labor. You don’t know anything, but you need to act like you do. In order for this to work, you really have to sacrifice that rational part of your thinking and lie, like Demi Moore’s character in the movie Indecent Proposal. You might even say, “It’s just my body… it’s not my mind,” but you know that that’s not true! The whole world thinks you’re completely insane, and it’s nearly impossible to convince them otherwise. After our first preview screening, my wife’s “best friend” told her to divorce me immediately, and she was dead serious. …

This is what it’s all about for me lately. Being centered. Sticking with what got me here. I am blessed and lucky to have been able to reconnect with one of my best pals growing up. He’s featured in the sequence here. A high school homey. Makes me feel young again and even a bit spiritual. Nothing gets more peaceful than the times spent with my skateboard these days. It’s definitely a weekly thing.
